Our Story
In 1992 our family was cooking an All-Hemp-Dinner at the San Francisco Hall of Flowers to raise funds for Proposition P, the first Medical Marijuana proposition in the country. The Ohio Hempery gave us the first gallon of hemp seed oil pressed in the US in 60 years. After learning about the amazing nutritional and healing properties of hemp seed oil, we started manufacturing lip balm & gloss,
And Hemp Essentials was born!
A small business that would support family and community and Cannabis causes for almost three decades.
Now 30 years later, children have grown, elders have passed, Hemp and Cannabis have both come of age, finding acceptance within the mainstream, and Hemp Essentials has moved from California to Hawaii and back to California. We are still the same cottage industry: grandma, moms and grandkids, producing the same high quality, small-batch lip balm and gloss, but now including former students marketing in Sonoma County. As charter members of the Hemp Industry Association, Hemp Essentials supports hemp education and cultivation on both sides of the Pacific.
We are hoping to help people heal and protect their skin naturally, while inspiring interest in this important and historic American agricultural crop.
